Assurances ARO has been at the heart of Madagascar’s insurance sector for nearly nine decades, combining tradition with forward-thinking solutions. “We are the market leader in Madagascar’s insurance sector, even after liberalisation,” said Deputy CEO for Marketing & Communications, Njaka Rahamalivony. With 29 agencies and 350 employees nationwide, ARO offers around 80 products across life and non-life insurance, providing coverage for both individuals and enterprises.
The company’s financial strength reinforces its credibility: it is the only Malagasy insurer to hold ISO 9001:2015 certification and a AA rating from Global Credit Ratings, an affiliate of Moody’s. In the past two years alone, ARO has reimbursed more than USD 20 million in claims, while its reserves exceed USD 90 million. “These figures demonstrate our reliability and our ability to honour commitments,” noted Deputy CEO for Finance, Tahiana Rakotoarisoa.
ARO also plays a vital role in national development, insuring major projects in mining, transport, and infrastructure. “We design both standardised and tailor-made solutions, from mining giants such as Rio Tinto to financial institutions seeking bespoke products,” explained Deputy CEO for Innovation & Digitalisation, Rianando Rakotoarimanga.
Beyond its financial performance, ARO is committed to inclusion. It remains the only provider of agricultural insurance in Madagascar and is expanding access through mobile money platforms. “Our goal is not only to sell insurance but to protect people and their activities,” Rahamalivony emphasised.
For Gulf partners seeking both growth potential and trusted local expertise, ARO stands ready to serve as a gateway into Madagascar’s expanding economy.
